Discovered Planet with 2 Sun

CALIFORNIA - For fans of the Star Wars saga will recall the scene in Planet Tatooine in Star Wars that have two suns. In the real world was the planet is actually real. Astronomers say the planet, called Kepler-16b, was found with the uniqueness of having two twin sun. The planet is located about 200 light-years from Earth and has a mass similar to Saturn.

And discovered when astronomers were observing when NASA's Kepler plane crossing in front of the sun's twin. Similarly, the Guardian reported on Friday (09/16/2011).

Temperatures in the Kepler planet-16 itself ranges from-70C to-100C. Cold temperatures make that possible because despite having two suns, both the size of the parent star is much smaller than our sun and emits less energy.

Alan Boss, a researcher at the Carnegie Institution for Science in Washington DC and a member of the team that found the Kepler-16b, said: "You will not get constant sunlight for two stars so close together."

"They will come together in an eclipse every 20.5 days and then move apart again as their separation increases, they will fall at different times," he added.

Boss is more optimistic about the Kepler-16b, although not perhaps uninhabitable. "This discovery is fascinating. Again, What used to be science fiction has turned into reality," he said.
