Historical facts

In a godless society aka secular, history is approached through three sides. First, the view of the cycle, meaning that history was running like a cycle and a natural flow. There is no God or purpose behind the incident. View of ancient Greece is still in demand by Nietzsche or Spangler. Second, the providential view, meaning that history is entirely guided by God, and man has no meaningful role. It is deterministic. But a third view which is also deterministic deterministic view is secular. This means that history is created not by human power, but by economic motives (Marxists, Hegel). In the third approach, humans are considered not willing, do not aspire, irresponsible, immoral aka no life.

In Islam the meaning of history in line with the meaning of reality. There is a view that is not dualistic duality nor dualism. On the one hand there is a God who creates, there is the created universe. But God does not become a part of nature because He is transcendent. God governs the world without becoming part of it. On the other hand there is a man who also created. Humans, though created, it is not an inanimate object. Humans were given hints and promises, given the reason and the will, and given the freedom to choose the direction of his life (history). It's just that he also carried the mandate, duties and obligations. With that all men are free to interact with him.

History is the exposition of the facts and the reality of the past, said James Fenimore Cooper (1789 - 1851), a novelist from the United States. But James is still less terliti, exposition or expression because the past is not entirely a reproduction of reality. The mind is very instrumental in doing the exposition, because he has a view of reality. That view is a worldview.

Therefore the writer of history is what directs the course of history in the past. So who won the ruling or the discourse, to master. Just like Alex Haley (1921 - 1992), an American writer that History is written by the winners. Thus Norman Davies (1939 -), British historian and author, advises firmly, "all historians have told his story with a convincing, if not it will be forgotten."

When someone writes the history, it will automatically enter the data and facts selectively. Appropriate data and facts taken, which is not discarded. "The fact of history", said Carl Becker (1873 - 1945), American historian, "there is no exception created by the historian, and every part of creation that some part of his personal experience must go". For the British historian A. J. P. Taylor (1906 - 1990), a historian in France, he said, the same as being a soldier, politician, and in a sense be like the ancient prophets and teachers of spiritual and moral. That is, historians determine many things.

History of the United States written by the entrants, will be far different from those written by native American tribes. White people will definitely start the history of America, for example, from the Declaration of Independence, while the authors of the original tribe will explore ever since the massacre by the immigrant. So history is subjective. Each writer has a worldview as the basis subyektifitasnya.

Prophet Muhammad as the last Prophet is a fact. However, he would not be a historical fact, unless there are historians who sat her down. For Muslim historians, on the fact that there are metaphysical facts (based on revelation) that the Lord before it has sent prophets with scriptures. This shows that there is interaction between man and God. Humans need guidance, and God knows it and then gave instructions. But God's written instructions, ended with the Qur'an as a book cover, following the Prophet Muhammad as the final prophet, and Islam as a religion that perfected.

"End" in the sense of showing a trip from scratch. From the empirical facts and non-empirical, can be was appointed as a historical fact that Muhammad was the last prophet.

Process or the trip was evidence of interaction between human behavior and the will of God. This means that the interaction of God to man through the scriptures and prophets have been ended. Humans are guaranteed to find the truth through the prophet and the last book. Our interpretation of the two sources would be able to reach the truth.

Title of the last prophet might be equated with the stamp of Fukuyama's historical journey to the West through the title of his book The End of History, The End of History. But there is a difference of principle here. In the West the way history is determined by material factors, especially economic development. Humans like not having a role, because the economy in question is a natural process that is driven solely by the material. From the materialistic and secular views of Fukuyama's conclusion reads that capitalism and liberal democracy is the last model in the history of Western human life. Certainly a far cry difference.

In the view of Islam, history is moving because of the human will, not governed by the laws of nature. History is governed by the laws of God. Law of God is within nature, which in Islam is called an open book or unwritten. We can not understand unless guided by an open book written book is the Koran. Again the secular materialistic view, the history ended on earth. Human life and death and finished afterward. In Islamic history ended on the Day of Judgement and are outside history in a secular sense it.

Thus, in Islamic history should be written using a historical perspective and normative. You do this by reconstructing the ways of making a historical fact, imagine what happens. Further emphasizing the human behavior to reconstruct the full meaning of humanity. And lastly, provide an assessment based on the worldview of Islam.

So, the writing of history is a process depiction of human facts objectively, but at the same time putting the object in the balance sheet contained in the concept of the reality of God's written books and unwritten. So as the word Greek historian Dionysius of Halicarnassus (lived 1st BC), history is philosophy teaching by example.

History as an example, can be studied from the word of God that says, "See ye not how Allah has made a good metaphor sentences like a good tree, its roots are firm and its branches (looming) into the sky. The tree gives its fruit at every season by the permission of its Lord. Allah makes metaphors for people so that they always remember. (Ibrahim: 24-25).

This means that in view of the history of Islam stems from a doctrine conceived and developed by humans, who then grow like a tree, namely life (syajarah). The tree then gives benefits (grace) or other fruit to humans through the law and God's will. Thus, in view of the history of Islam is the interaction between values and practices of human life is sheltered by the will and law of God. That history is growing and that's living history.
